We’re Connecting People to Enhance and Protect Our Environment

Māori hauora has long recognised the importance of returning to the whenua to improve our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It’s also scientifically proven that nature benefits health and wellbeing, so immersing ourselves in it – from our back gardens to the great outdoors – is good for everyone!

Waiariki Park Region is all about connecting you to the incredible work being done across the region to restore the environment, alongside all the activities you can do to ‘get back to nature’. It’s also about sharing your knowledge, stories and actions. We win when nature is winning.

We support all Tangata whenua in the Waiariki region.

No reira, mā whero, mā pango, ka oti te mahi o tenei kaupapa

Waiariki Park Region stretches from Waihi Beach in the west to Cape Runaway in the east, from Maketu in the north to Tongariro in the south
And, we must come together and use the knowledge of Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti to achieve our joint aspirations

Space for Nature

Space for Nature is an initiative to celebrate and support urban residents of the Bay of Plenty who are protecting biodiversity in their backyards and encourage others to do the same.

The programme is facilitated by Envirohub through the Waiariki Park Region initiative, working in partnership to complement the work of existing local projects and agencies.
