About Us.

We are dedicated to making the Waiariki region greener, healthier, wilder and more resilient. The Waiariki Park Region project has been co-designed alongside key figures in the environmental space.

Waiariki Park Region is a movement to increase the amount of people engaging in activities that enhance the environment. Each section of the site is designed to connect people to the great environmental initiatives, activities and places to explore across Waiariki. Helping people improve their physical and mental well-being by ‘getting back to nature’ is our game! Waiariki Park Region is a team effort with people working across the region and behind the scenes to make Waiariki an amazing place to live. The project team has evolved as the team goes through growth, and expansion, see below some of the key individuals involved in the start of the project.

Parks and Recreation Specialist

Geoff Canham

Geoff has spent 37 years working as a parks and recreation specialist, and was instrumental in the inception of the Waiariki Park Region initiative. Geoff is a passionate park region advocate with a wealth of knowledge in planning and project management for local authorities.

Laura Wragg

Laura is passionate about sustainability and shaping a more regenerative future for the next generation and the biodiversity we live alongside. Project Coordinator

Fiona Lavin

Fiona has a background in project and operational environment. She has worked at Envirohub since 2020 and is a passionate environmentalist and volunteer. Fiona leads projects in both the conservation and sustainability space.
