The difference we're making.

A kindy and a kaiway

Katikati, Western Bay

The first school across Waiariki to receive the prestigious Beyond Green-Gold environmental award was Katikati Kindergarten. They have long been empowering their tamariki to take care of Papatuanuku and have a worm farm, sustainable garden and environmentally-friendly playground made of sustainable products. Further to this, they created the nearby Kati KaiWay, which is an edible fruit tree walkway that has feijoas, plums, citrus, guavas and even almonds on display! It provides food sustainability for the entire Katikati community.

Native flora: Harakeke flax, tawa, kohekohe.
Mana whenua: Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi.
